Podcast Response : Music Lessons
at the beginning of this podcast we see one of our characters be introduced, and explained. we are informed Mr. Durrell is an orchistra teacher and absolutely loves jazz music. but we see where he may not like his job as much, the kids hate it. tnhe students he has treat his class as almost a time to slack off in certain situations, but still attend. this kills him, and drives him the point of wanting to quit and tell them to not bother. later on in this podcast we have a different story, and character.David Sedaris was a young boy who had a father with a dream. his dad wanted david and his two sisters to become something great, and tried everything to make it work. he gave them instruments and took them to lessons, only to find out none of them wanted to even deal with it. these two segments contrast almost completely. both, mr. durrell and mr. sedaris, loved music and wanted it to impact the world but had two different sides to this argument. Mr Durrell practically gave up on his kids and was abou to cancel what they worked for. But on the other hand we see mr Sedaris practically smoother his kids to become famous and great musicians. It's as though there cant be a happy middle of effort given by the kids and by the mentors. In a way it's as though the two were both poles, one forcing the kids to come together with music ad the other pushing them away. My durrell found his classes weakness by telling them he'd cancel state. And then you have mr Sedaris pushing his kids so hard to be the best he turns them away from it all.
